STOP TB CAMPAIGN
Parallel to HIV awareness MAP has embarked on the STOP TB campaign. We offer TB Screening at our HCT’s which take place in different communities. If a patient displays symptoms of TB they are referred to the local clinic for treatment. TB education and awareness is conducted in schools, universities and communities as part of Personal hygiene, Self Care and Cough education.
HOSPITAL ARV SANDWHICH ROLL OUT
The initiative was started by 2 doctors seeking faith based organisations to run the project. The project provides sandwiches to people coming to collect their ARV Treatment at two local hospitals (Rhahima Moosa Women and Children’s Hospital and Helen Joseph Hospital). The project runs every day, but how it works is that a number of faith based organisations have partnered up together in order to make the project effective and thus each organisation has a turn to cater and distribute once a week. MAP has a group of ladies who have volunteered to make the sandwiches and distribute them at the hospitals under the supervision of MAP.
MAP SUPPORT GROUPS
MAP offers a variety of support groups in all areas of operation to individuals, groups and the community as a whole. Members of the different communities meet to offer support to one another, build and strengthen relationships, create and maintain structural support to those in need and to uplift communities. Facilitators work with these communities in an attempt to facilitate their journey through change, development and to equip them with the necessary tools to ensure continuity.
MAP SECOND HAND SHOP
The second hand shop which runs from the care centre was established to assist the homes as an income generation project to ensure the basic needs of the homes and the able running thereof.
